| | Peter Tosh | ] | Today, a group of Cubans had a long-time conviction overturned because the judge ruled that the men had been unable to get a fair trial in Miami. The men are pro-Castro and had been accused of spying on anti-Castro people in the US. The lawyer was terribly surprised that the judge had shown so much fairness. On the other hand, a Canadian man who was arrested as he passed through the US and secreted away to Syria to be tortured. No trial, no due process, no cards and letters from home. No help from the Canadian government. And absolutely no one is surprised. So, I'm hearing that Americans are simply astonished when Justice is actually served and not the least bit alarmed when She is not. Uh...maybe we need to change our attitude. Maybe progressives need to stop being non-plussed when these injustices happen and move forward with fighting against them. Look, the planet's in real trouble and we can't get the government to respond to Her plight. Our constitution is moribund and there seems no rescue in sight. I just want to shout in people's faces, "What the hell is the matter with you????" Why are you spending all of your time and resources being entertained like so many Nero's???? FIRE!!!!!!!!!!! |
